Biography

Lei is a former Senior Software Engineer in News Labs. She takes special interest in digital innovation, user experience and voice technology. Her primary focus in recent years has been on conversational journalism and voice assistants with the highlight being coming up with the idea and helping launch the UK's first interactive news service for Alexa. She's also passionate about hackthons, good engineering practices and team culture. Her background is in both journalism and software engineering, with a MA in International Journalism and a MSc in Software Engineering (Multimedia).
