Biography
Miranda is the Executive Product Manager for BBC News Labs. She leads the development of the programme, working with editorial and technical colleagues to identify and deliver innovations that have impact in a complex newsroom environment.
She specialises in running applied, interdisciplinary research and innovation programmes, and has unique expertise in developing AI and data practices that foreground trust building and equity. This is informed by 10 years of working across public service media, open internet movements, health, policy, arts, and engineering.
Prior to being at the BBC she led the Open Data Institute's R&D programme and has worked extensively with the Wellcome Trust's Mental Health team exploring new approaches to computational research. Her academic background includes a degree in graphic design, and a Master's in Digital Anthropology, for which her research focus was the cultural context of deep learning engineers in Silicon Valley. She is an alumni of the Mozilla Open Leaders programme and a member of the Advisory Board for the Data for London Platform.
