Biography

Phil is a journalist with a background in computer science. He joined the BBC and News Labs in 2022 after 12 years as a freelance journalist and photographer, during which time he covered a wide range of stories across the globe ranging from conflict to hill-sheep farming. Prior to journalism, Phil was a researcher in knowledge management at the University of Sheffield and went on to spend three years working in industry at an internet company in France.
